Day 1. Arrive Victoria

On arrival in Victoria, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to settle in to your room then meet your fellow travellers at a Welcome Dinner.

Day 2. Victoria, The Butchart Gardens

This morning visit The Butchart Gardens before the crowds and enjoy breakfast in the original Butchart residence. With exclusive access to the gardens before they open to the general public, you'll relish the chance to inspect the incredible display of blooms in true serenity. Afterwards, spend the afternoon on your selected sightseeing experience. Perhaps join a whale watching cruise; take a seaplane flight; learn about the city’s heritage district on a guided tour; fish for salmon; ride in a horse-drawn carriage; or delight in afternoon tea at The Fairmont Empress Hotel. The evening is at leisure so you may explore as you wish.

Day 3. Victoria, Georgia Strait, Whistler

Pause in the town of Chemainus before taking the ferry across Georgia Strait. Treasure the scenery as you travel north along the spectacular Sea to Sky Highway, passing Shannon Falls before arriving at Whistler.

Day 4. Whistler, Sun Peaks

Bid a fond farewell to Whistler this morning as you head for your next ski resort village - Sun Peaks. Today's journey takes you through the lush Coast Mountains as you follow the historic tracks of the early gold rush pioneers through the rugged Cariboo region. You'll make a brief stop at Duffey and Seton lakes and travel via the remote town of Lillooet. Arrive later at Sun Peaks, Canada's second largest ski area set beneath three famous summits - Mt Tod, Sundance Mountain and Mt Morrisey. Dinner this evening will be set for you at your hotel.

Day 5. Sun Peaks, Mt Robson, Blue River, Jasper

On arrival in Blue River, skim over the waterways watching for the grizzly and black bears that are frequently sighted here. After, join the Yellowhead Highway and stop to take in views of Mt Robson, before arriving in Jasper where you'll enjoy the grand Canadian lodge experience.

Day 6. Jasper, Athabasca Glacier, Lake Louise

Join the Icefields Parkway and wind through the majestic scenery of the Canadian Rockies. After pausing to take in Maligne Canyon and Athabasca Falls, stop at the giant Columbia Icefield. Here, journey right onto the surface of Athabasca Glacier. Later, in Banff National Park, admire Peyto Lake before continuing on to Lake Louise and The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Day 7. Lake Louise, Banff

Join an expert Mountain Heritage Guide and learn about the rich natural history of the region as you take a leisurely stroll by the shores of Lake Louise. Then set out along the Trans-Canada Highway through the forest of Banff National Park. En route, stop to absorb one of the most photographed panoramas of Banff National Park, the turquoise waters of Moraine Lake. In Banff later, head to the town centre for a tour, then board the Banff Gondola and ascend Sulphur Mountain from where you’ll enjoy panoramic views out over six surrounding mountain ranges. On return to ground level, you'll Meet a Mountie and hear tales of the iconic Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Look forward to dining at one of your hotel's restaurants tonight.

Day 8. Banff

World Heritage-listed Banff National Park is without a doubt one of the most incredible locations of Canada's Rocky Mountains. While it is best-known as a winter playground, the warmer months bring lush landscapes that are perfect for outdoor activities. Experience it all on your chosen activity today. You may like to take part in the Banff Experience - which includes a visit to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site. Alternatively, absorb captivating bird's-eye views of the national park on a wonderful heli-flightseeing trip. Perhaps enjoy a float trip along Bow River or, for the more adventurous, join a guide and go for a paddle in a canoe. You might like to spend your morning relaxing at the Willow Stream Spa or set out on a cruise on Lake Minnewanka. You'll look forward to a relaxing evening left free for you to enjoy your surrounds.

Day 9. Banff, Rocky Mountaineer, Kamloops

Board the Rocky Mountaineer and relax in your GoldLeaf carriage as you travel through the Rockies. Traverse Kicking Horse Pass, travel through the Spiral Tunnels and journey past Shuswap Lake to the city of Kamloops.

Day 10. Kamloops, Rocky Mountaineer, Vancouver

Your rail journey continues this morning. Enjoy views to rocky slopes as your train follows the Thompson River. Pass Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon and admire the Coast Mountains on the way to Vancouver.

Day 11. Vancouver

Get to know Vancouver with your APT Tour Director this morning. Visit Stanley Park, a world-class, 400-hectare evergreen oasis located just steps away from downtown Vancouver. Then head to Granville Island, the bustling heart of Vancouver’s cultural scene. You’ll also see picturesque English Bay and Vancouver Harbour, before some free time. Perhaps wander through the old cobblestone streets of Gastown, whilst others may prefer to visit the shopping mecca of Robson Street.

Day 12. Vancouver, Embark Ship

Day 13. Cruising the Inside Passage

Day 14. Ketchikan

Arrive at the city of Ketchikan, set right on the shores of the Tongass Narrows. Ketchikan acts as a gateway to a wide variety of attractions, including Misty Fjords National Monument - one of America’s largest wilderness areas. It is also known as one of the best places from which to observe the annual salmon run, and can also lay claim to the world’s largest collection of standing totem poles.

Day 15. Tracy Arm, Juneau

Cruise to the entrance of Tracy Arm, a narrow and twisting fjord which stretches for almost 50 kilometres. Continue your journey to Alaska’s capital, Juneau, set at the foot of the majestic Coast Mountains on the Gastineau Channel. Here, you may explore at leisure, or set off on one of the exciting excursions available to you (own expense).

Day 16. Skagway

Arrive in Skagway at the northernmost point of the Inside Passage. Once a gateway city for the Klondike Gold Rush, Skagway’s frontier-style atmosphere remains evident today. Never failing to intrigue visitors with its wide range of historic buildings and stories to be told, there are a variety of unique excursions on offer (own expense). Or, if you'd prefer, you can also choose to set out on your own discovery.

Day 17. Glacier Bay National Park

Draw back your curtains to World Heritage-listed Glacier Bay National Park. As you cruise through rivers of ice and between skyscraping peaks, you’ll enjoy commentary from local rangers who have come aboard your ship to explain the geological wonders and point out some of the diverse wildlife and marine mammals.

Day 18. College Fjord

Relax and take in the scenery today as you cruise through College Fjord, with its five stunning tidewater glaciers, five large valley glaciers and many smaller glaciers, most of which were named after Ivy League schools. Day 19. Whittier, Disembark Ship, Talkeetna, Denali (Mt McKinley)

Day 20. Denali (Mt McKinley), Talkeetna

During breakfast, enjoy views of the Alaska Range and perhaps even Denali, formerly known as Mt McKinley. As the mountain is so tall - 6,194 metres - it can be difficult to catch a completely clear view. Its jagged peaks, however, are known to appear through the mist at any moment. Will today be your lucky day as you venture outdoors and explore on your chosen activity? Take a thrilling ride along the Talkeetna River on a jetboat tour. Or, enjoy a more leisurely option - a float trip down the Talkeetna River.Join a guide for an easy stroll around Byers Lake or take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon. Day 21. Denali (Mt McKinley), Denali National Park

Tour the Sun Dog Kennels and meet some of the sled dogs this morning. Then travel by coach to Denali National Park and settle in to your lodge. Enjoy an evening of fun, festivity and traditional Alaskan food at the Music of Denali Musical Theatre tonight. Performed in a rustic-style roadhouse, the musical show gives you a light-hearted overview of the first men to reach the summit of Denali.

Day 22. Denali National Park
